In the second and final part of his interview with Pools PlayerHD, new Chairman Raj Singh opens up on his reasons for getting involved at Victoria Park.
Rather than deciding to forge ahead with a takeover for business reasons, Singh insists that his motives are simply based on his passion and love for football.
And now he’s back involved in the game, he is determined to use the experience he has gained in the past to ensure things move in the right direction at Pools.
“It’s purely down to the football,” Singh told Pools PlayerHD.
“All this nonsense about wanting to develop this and develop that, nothing could be further from the truth because this is purely for the football.
“I have been fortunate enough to be successful in business so I don’t need to get involved in football to make more money, there are plenty of deals to be done elsewhere.
“I always felt that somewhere along the line I would get involved with football again even though, if I am being honest, what happened in the past did hurt me.
“The comparison I would make is like a boxer who got battered going back in to the ring and people asking why he’s doing it – I think it’s because the boxer believes he can go in and win that fight, and that’s me.
“I think I have learned a lot from what has gone before and hopefully Hartlepool United will benefit from that experience.”
The second part of the interview also sees Singh discuss Jeff Stelling’s role in more detail and deliver a special thank you to supporters and a message as the Club heads in to a new era.
