Pools Youth Team battled for a point in their latest Youth Alliance League outing at York City on Thursday afternoon.
Ian McGuckin’s youngsters were made to work hard for their share of the spoils in difficult conditions on a windy afternoon at City’s Wiggington training ground.
Pools enjoyed the better of the chances and could have taken the lead in the first half when Brad Fox got on the end of a cross in to the box but headed over.
There were also a couple of threatening moments in the second half when Pools forced their hosts on to the back foot but couldn’t quite make the breakthrough.
Pools finished the game with ten men after Brook Miller picked up a head wound in an aerial collision after challenging for the ball with a home player.
“It’s a hard-earned point so we’re pleased with the lads,” McGuckin told us.
“We’ve had a tough schedule in recent weeks so we’ve got to see that as a good result – we had the chances to have won the game but we’re pretty satisfied with the draw.”
