We turn our attentions to Saturday with a full and in-depth preview of Eastleigh's visit to Victoria Park.

Victoria Park

In Opposition
Eastleigh have shown big ambition to join the EFL since emerging from National League South in 2014 and will hope that this is the year they can realise those dreams.

A disjointed 2016/17 campaign saw The Spitfires operate under four different manager – including former Pools boss Ronnie Moore – and a season which started out with such promise culminated in a disappointing 15th-place finish.

The return of former chief Richard Hill to the dugout has sparked new optimism in Hampshire though they have been struggling to turn performances in to victories during recent weeks.

Eastleigh have drawn seven times already this season and suffered further frustration last weekend when they twice led against AFC Fylde only to then have to once again settle for a share of the spoils.

On the flip side, they’ve been beaten only twice this term so far and boast an experienced squad so it would be no surprise to see them emerge as genuine promotion contenders as the season progresses.

One To Watch
Ben Williamson could be handed a starting spot for Eastleigh this weekend after returning from injury – and that should put Pools defenders on red alert at The Vic.

The front man helped himself to a League Cup hat-trick against Pools when playing for Port Vale in 2014 and will no doubt offer a threat again this weekend.

The 28-year-old, who has scored four times so far this season, came off the bench during last Saturday’s draw with AFC Fylde and will now hope to press his claims for a starting spot.

Head To Head
This weekend’s game will be the first-ever competitive meeting between Pools and Eastleigh.

Marc Edwards has been handed his first Pools assignment this weekend as he takes charge of our meeting with Eastleigh.

The ref has been on the whistle for five games this season having been promoted to the National League list at the start of 2017/18.

Edwards’ most recent appointment came a couple of weeks ago when he was in the middle for Barrow’s goalless draw with Guiseley at Holker Street.

Live Coverage
Pools legend Brian Honour is back behind the mic this weekend when he joins Mark Simpson on Pools PlayerHD for full live online commentary of the game.

The duo will be on-air from 2.50pm to set the scene and then guide you through all the action as it unfolds as Craig Harrison’s men welcome Eastleigh.

Tickets for the game are on sale now both online and from the Club’s Ticket Office.

Fans will be able to buy tickets on the day of the game from the Main Ticket Office on Clarence Road or from our two Matchday Ticket Offices.

There will be no cash turnstiles for Pools fans but we have introduced a method by which supporters can buy tickets on their cards directly at the gate.
