Craig Harrison was thrilled with the work ethic of his players as they put in a committed performance against Dagenham & Redbridge to earn a third straight win.
Pools didn’t have it all their own way at Victoria Park against a Dagger side who were unbeaten so far this season and arrived in the north-east sitting top of the National League table.
However, Harrison’s men worked hard to protect their clean sheet and then took the points with fifteen minutes left when Jonathan Franks scored for a third game in a row.
“It was a very tough game,” admitted Harrison when he spoke to Pools PlayerHD.
“We didn’t dominate like we did last week but the mentality to dig in was brilliant – in the first six games we didn’t give ourselves a platform but today we did.
“The work ethic, the commitment to each other and the team was superb; from SImmo up the front right through to Watson, Ledger and Loachy at the back we defended for our lives and that’s how you win football games.
“As a team, everyone was fantastic. They ran themselves in to the ground and that is the way it has to be if you are going to be successful.
“We had to stay in the game for as long as we could and then Franksy has come up with that bit of quality that we all know he has got – even though it seemed to take forever to drop in!
“The lads are in tomorrow so they won’t be celebrating too hard. We have to recover, warm-down in the pool and ice-baths and then we go again Monday so we’re ready for Tuesday.”
