Pools have suffered a setback with the news that Jake Cassidy is set to be sidelined for eight weeks after being told he has a stress fracture in his foot.

The front man went to see a specialist on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the injury to his right foot and it was confirmed to be a stress fracture which now requires a period of rest.

“It’s a real blow for us because Jake has been fantastic since he joined the Club and played a big part in us getting our first win,” said boss Craig Harrison.

“He’s shown real bravery to play even when he was in pain but now we know the root of the problem he can get the best treatment and make sure he comes back stronger.

“As ever in football, this provides an opportunity for someone else to come in to the side and shine just like Connor Simpson did against Maidstone at the weekend.”

Cassidy has scored two goals for the Club since arriving at Victoria Park during the summer.
