Excitement is building ahead of a charity match involving some high-profile celebrities and former players which is set to take place at Victoria Park on Saturday 16th September.
Town charity Miles for Men have partnered with Once Upon A Smile to stage the fixture at The Vic and it’s hoped a bumper crowd can be drawn to watch.
Confirmed celebrities playing in the game, which kicks-off at 3pm, include X-Factor star Jake Quickenden, This Is England actor Thomas Turgoose, Adam Thomas of Emmerdale and Waterloo Road fame and former professional footballers Frank Sinclair and Paul Dickov.
A number of former Pools star are also queuing up to represent the Miles for Men team, which will be managed by two-time Victoria Park boss Chris Turner.
Rob McKinnon, Tony Skedd, Ian McGuckin and Matty Hyson are among those dusting off their boots to play in the game so there is plenty to interest Pools fans who fancy coming along.
“The response from Hartlepool has been great, everyone is absolutely buzzing about it,” said Rob Collier, a patron of Miles for Men.
“It is a family day out that allows wives, kids and grandparents – everyone really – to come and enjoy the day. They are not just coming to watch a football match, they will be supporting two fantastic charities, and it’s a good chance to see the celebrities they watch every day on TV.”
Tickets are available from the Club’s Ticket Office (cash payments only) as well as from Advanced House in Wesley Square and in The Corner Flag.
Adult tickets are just £8 each, children will pay only £5, while there are also Family Tickets available for two adults and two children for £20.
“We have got some cracking names involved,” added Rob. “Wish Upon A Smile don’t like losing but it’s going to be a competitive game!”
