In Opposition
Sutton United have emerged as one of the National League’s contenders for promotion after a strong start to the new campaign.

The U’s currently lie fourth in the table on the back of an impressive opening to 2016/17, which is only their second season back at the top tier of non-league football.

Paul Doswell’s experienced management is reaping rewards in South West London and they are building on last year’s eye-catching FA Cup run with equally strong form in the league this time around.

They have been particularly dangerous on their travels where they have already won at both Tranmere Rovers and Dagenham & Redbridge so Pools will have to be on their game this weekend.

One To Watch
Former Pools man Simon Walton signed for Sutton during the summer after spending last season on the books at fellow National League outfit Guiseley.

The midfielder is likely to be in the starting line-up at The Vic this weekend when he will patrol in front of the back four and look to get Sutton moving with his range of passing.

Walton spent two seasons in Pools colours between 2012 and 2014, during which he made 83 appearances and scored four goals – and on his day he can be the difference so will need to be well looked after on Saturday.

Head To Head
This weekend’s game will be the first-ever competitive meeting between Pools and Sutton United.

It will be Daniel Middleton’s first-ever Pools appointment this weekend when he’s the man in the middle for Sutton United’s visit to The Vic.

In his first year on the National League list of referees, Middleton’s last outing was in September when he oversaw Dover Athletic’s 4-0 win over Chester.

Earlier this season he officiated Sutton when they won in impressive fashion at Tranmere Rovers.

Live Coverage
Pools legend Brian Honour is back behind the mic this weekend when he joins Mark Simpson on Pools PlayerHD for full live online commentary of the game.

The duo will be on-air from 2.50pm to set the scene and then guide you through all the action as it unfolds as Craig Harrison’s men welcome Eastleigh.
