Lead Foundation Phase Coach Gary Boagey brings us a review of the weekend's fixtures.
On Sunday 1st October the Foundation Phase played Carlisle United and it was a productive day all-round for the younger phase.
With the Under 12s winning 5-2 at home, the Under 11s won 4-2 away, the Under 10s drew 0-0 at home and the Under 9s lost 7-3 away.
The Under 9s losing away was not a problem as they were away from home and travelled early in the morning which can affect the younger players but there were lots of positives from their game.
The Under 10s was an entertaining 0-0 game with both sides trying to play good football.
The Under 11s played well after soaking up a lot of pressure and going 1-0 down early in the game. Once they settled, they started to dictate the pace of the game and were 4-1 up until conceding in the last minute.
The Under 12s game started slowly with both teams trying to play attacking football, they then started to move the ball quickly with one and two-touch play and started to create a lot of chances and scored 5 times.
Within the Phase we had some players playing up an age which they embraced and adapted to the challenge of playing against older players.
