We turn our attentions to Tuesday evening's action with a full and in-depth preview of FC Halifax Town's visit to The Vic.

Tuesday 21st November 2017, 7.45pm
Victoria Park

In Opposition
FC Halifax Town are trying desperately to rediscover the early season form that saw them challenging with the chasing pack at the top of the National League table.

Billy Heath’s men enjoyed a fantastic start following last term’s promotion from National League North and their 2-1 win over Bromley at the end of September saw them sitting fourth and just one point off the top.

However, The Shaymen have not won since and that dramatic loss of form has seen them drop to 17th place ahead of Tuesday’s visit to Victoria Park – their first in over 16 years.

Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Sutton United extended their wait for a victory to nine games in all competitions and they’ll be hoping they can bring that to an end at Pools’ expense.

One To Watch
Tom Denton was on target during Saturday’s loss at Sutton United with his sixth goal of the campaign and he’ll be looking to build on that at The Vic on Tuesday.

Town may need to rely on the former North Ferriby and Alfreton man a little more in the coming weeks with the news that Ben Tomlinson is going to be sidelined with a hamstring problem.

The 6ft 7ins striker offers a real physical presence to Town’s attack and it’s something Pools will need to get to grips with if they’re to nullify one part of the visitors’ threat on Tuesday night.

Head To Head
Tuesday night’s game will be the 123rd competitive meeting between the two sides but the first since they last shared a division back in 2001/02.

Pools have a good recent record against Town having gone undefeated in the last six and they did the double over them in the last season they were at the same level.

You have to go back to 1999 to find Town’s last win over Pools and there hasn’t been a goalless draw in this fixture since back in 1986.

Joseph Johnson will preside over his first-ever Pools game when he’s on duty at The Vic for our meeting with FC Halifax Town.

Now in to his third season on the National League’s list of referees, Johnson has officiated in three games so far this season, the most recent coming in Macclesfield Town’s 2-1 win at Guiseley at the start of last month.

Johnson has refereed The Shaymen already this term too; he was on the whistle for their last win when they beat Bromley 2-1 in September – though he did send-off Town’s Scott Garner in the game.
