Former Pools star Malcolm Dawes was a guest of the Club on Saturday as he finally got his hands on some silverware after winning our Player of the Year award in the 1970s.

The defender was the standout performer during the 1973/74 campaign but was never given a trophy to celebrate – but we put that right at the weekend.

Dawes and his family were invited as guests of the Club to the game against Aldershot Town, a team where he also spent five years as a player during his career.

Club legend Brian Honour and skipper Carl Magnay did the honours by presenting the accolade to Dawes at half time in the game, as he received a great ovation from the Victoria Park crowd.
