Craig Harrison admitted that his side got what they deserved in defeat to Aldershot Town at Victoria Park on Tuesday.
The Shots snatched a lead at the end of an uninspiring first half and then doubled it on the counter-attack after the break as Pools looked to press for an equaliser.
However, Harrison was honest enough to concede that the visitors deserved their victory and insisted that he and the players would regroup and come back stronger against FC Halifax Town on Tuesday.
“We’re weren’t good enough,” Harrison told Pools PlayerHD.
“You can dress it up whatever way you want but I’m not one for doing that – I don’t think we were good enough in or out of possession and generally we just didn’t play well.
“We went 4-4-2, we tried to get an extra one up front to create a bit more than we have recently and to take the game to them but for whatever reason it just didn’t seem to work.
“It was flat and when they scored right on half time it was a sucker punch. The lads give everything every time they go out there but we just weren’t good enough today.
“Of course we’ll look at it and analyse it as best we can but we have to remember that we have a game on Tuesday so we have to get this out of our system and try and put a few wrongs right.
“With football you always have another game so it’s important we prepare properly; we’ll be in on Sunday, go over the game and then warm down well and then be ready to go again on Tuesday.”
