Carl Magnay has been ruled out of action for at least a month after undergoing hernia surgery on Tuesday evening.

The Club Captain has been struggling with discomfort since the 2-1 win at Solihull Moors at the start of last month and was forced to sit out the trip to Torquay United on Saturday.

Magnay was quickly booked in for the operation and will now begin the rehabilitation which should see him in line for a return to training in the early part of December.

“He had the operation on Tuesday night and everything has gone as planned,” revealed boss Craig Harrison.

“It was a dilemma about how to proceed and whether to have surgery but the main thing is that the player is 100% happy and both he and the staff wanted him to get it done as soon as possible.

“He’s been struggling with it for a while so now he can concentrate on coming back fully fit and not at 80 or 90% like he has been in recent games.

“We’ve been quite unlucky with impact injuries this season and he will be a miss to us but, like I have said with all the other problems we’ve had, it will open a door for somebody else.

“We have a squad because we know that everyone will play a part so when injuries happen other players need to step up and perform if we’re going to have a successful season.”
