A new sprinkler system has been installed and the major renovation work has now begun on the playing surface at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
An enhanced irrigation system for the playing surface was completed by our friends at AV Irrigation earlier in the week before our partners at Premier Pitches arrived to strip off the pitch on Tuesday.
The vast majority of the early work has now been completed but there is still a little more preparation to be done before the next stage of seeding and top-dressing.
“I would have liked to have started the work earlier but there is still plenty of time and things have gone well this week,” explained Head Groundsman Dave Brown.
“The lads at AV Irrigation were fantastic at the start of the week, getting through the work on the sprinklers and really helping us be ready for the next stage of the summer makeover.
“The Club is a long time partner of Premier Pitches so that’s helped us hit the ground running with that phase of the work and the seeding should be completed by the end of this week.
“After that it will be a case of crossing our fingers for some steady rain and a bit of heat too and then one morning we’ll come in and it will be green again!”
