Dave Jones has called on the players to build on Tuesday night’s emphatic win when they welcome high-flying Exeter City to The Northern Gas and Power Stadium this weekend.
Pools play host to The Grecians who have put together a remarkable run of form since November to climb from the bottom of the League Two table right in to contention for automatic promotion.
However, Jones says there is a new sense of confidence within his squad following the 4-0 triumph over Crewe in midweek and he wants the team to show that when they take to the field on Saturday.
“It was important – we’ve been playing well but it was that result that everyone needed,” Jones told Pools PlayerHD.
“We’ve got the reward for our progress so hopefully we can kick-on now – we’ll have disappointments along the way but we trying to build something that’s going to be a legacy here.
“I didn’t realise that it had been over three years since the last 4-0 victory at home in the league and that’s a long time for any club.
“But it tells you where this Club has been and the state it’s been at - hopefully that’s all change now and we can keep growing and get better and better.
“The fans can play an integral part of the Club and always will do. We want everyone who comes to the games to make as much noise as they possibly can.
“I know we have to give them something to cheer but if they stick with the players, which they have done for many years, then fingers crossed there will be more nights like Tuesday.”
