Dave Jones wants his players to learn from today’s 2-1 defeat at Blackpool.
after the game. Pools PlayerHD“I think they played well but we switched off for the second goal and that’s what we can’t do,” Jones told
“It’s a trait that we have at the moment and we’re trying to take that out of us. Whether that’s down to lack of fitness or whatever is something that we’ll have to look at but I thought we deserved something from the game today.
“For long spells we dominated, we looked decent on the ball, we maybe should have got another goal or even more than that but when you’re up against teams that are trying to get out of the division, they can change their team, with people on the bench and we’re not at that stage of our development.
“It’s hard to swallow because we played so well but this must be the fifth or sixth time I’ve said that and we’ve got to learn quickly, the youngsters have got to learn quickly and they are doing that but that’s a hard lesson today.
“There is plenty to build on, I just think at this point in time it’s a big learning curve for them but I think if they continue to develop and believe in what’s happening, then we’ll get there.”
And the Pools boss was full of praise for the travelling Pools fans, with an impressive 1684 cheering the team on throughout the game,
“I’m used to that so hopefully that will continue. I thought it was absolutely fantastic, the noise they made was fantastic.”
