Jones Targets Improvement In Away Form

10 March 2017

Dave Jones has said there is a good vibe around the Club following two crucial home wins and now he wants to find the winning formula on the road as Pools head to Notts County on Saturday.

The Pools boss enjoyed back-to-back victories over Crewe Alexandra and Exeter City on home soil and has now turned his attentions to solving the side’s travel sickness.

Pools have not won away from home since the 3-0 triumph over Grimsby Town at the beginning of October but Jones is confident that his side are ready to get back on track on the road.

“Somebody told me yesterday how long it is since we last won away from home – and it’s too long,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“There’s been an uplift in tempo and there is a feelgood factor which seems to be creeping in now so we have to try and transfer the form we’ve shown at home to our away games.

“They’re a strong side with a lot of experience and they’ll be trying to use that but obviously we’re a bit different from that.

“We have good legs and youthfulness about us and they’ve shown that they never give up so we have to keep that going on Saturday.”

Pools have sold almost 250 tickets in advance for Saturday’s game at Meadow Lane, as well as over 800 for the trip to Blackpool at the end of the month.

Jones is overwhelmed by the backing his team continues to enjoy on their travels and is now determined to try and provide some reward for their efforts.

“I’m only the custodian of the team at the moment but they’ll be supporting the Club for many, many years.

“It’s a long way to travel wherever we go away from home so I have nothing but admiration for all of our supporters who keep on turning up so hopefully we can give them something to cheer.”
