Hartlepool United defender Rob Jones attended a celebratory assembly for Alfie Smith at Throston Primary School last week.
Jones went along with H’Angus the monkey and Hartlepool United Community Sports Foundation staff to join in the afternoon of celebration with Alfie.
Nine-year-old Alfie has reached his fund-raising target of £50,000 and will now undergo a life-changing operation which will eventually enable him to walk unaided.
The Help Alfie Walk For The First Time campaign has been running for the past few months and has now reached its target to allow for the surgery to take place (click here for more details).
Throston Primary School held an afternoon of fun on his last day at school before he left to undergo surgery and Rob and H’Angus were delighted to go along for the party and join in the fun with Alfie and his friends.
