Foodbank Collection Proves Big Success

20 March 2017

The Club would like to thank everyone who made kind donations to our Foodbank collection before Saturday’s game against Wycombe Wanderers.

We linked-up with the Supporters’ Trust and local organisation North East Athletic to provide collection points in the Victoria Lounge and The Corner Flag ahead of kick-off at the weekend.

The response we received was overwhelming, with supporters dropping various food items and toiletries in to the Club all week in the build-up to the game as well as on matchday.

All the donations will be passed on to the Church Street Foodbank and all indications are that the volume of items will keep them going for a significant amount of time.
We would like to particularly thank Morrisons who turned up in one of their brand new delivery vans to drop off a sizeable donation of goods for our collection.

Store Manager Simon Dove and their Community Champion Leigh Dobson from Morrisons arrived to help support our efforts and boost the collection with an array of items.

“We have our own Foodbank collection points in-store if people want to donate,” explained Leigh.

“We’re about to start a delivery service for our customers in the coming weeks so dropping this donation in to Pools was the ideal way to test out one of our brand new vans!”

Thanks again to everyone who donated to the cause – we may look to do this sort of thing again so keep your eyes peeled for information.
