Dave Jones has insisted that no stone will be left unturned in the search for a change of fortune on the road as his Pools side head for a midweek encounter at Cambridge United.
The Pools boss watched on as the team were beaten 2-1 at Notts County on Saturday and was again unhappy with the manner of the goals conceded in a game he felt was there for the taking.
Jones has more than once in the past asserted that the players need to show more belief in their own ability and he’s repeated that message again ahead of Tuesday’s trip to The Abbey Stadium.
“It’s tough – I’ve only been here six weeks and it’s tough on me,” Jones told Pools PlayerHD.
“The way people talk about being away from home it’s almost as if it is accepted so we’re trying to change that mentality, among other things.
“It’s all about believing that they can get that victory, that clean sheet away from home because sooner or later you have to put your foot down and say that enough is enough.
“Our preparation is no different to any club in the land so it’s not that why we’re not getting wins away from home – we just have to look at the overall picture and see what we can change.
“In football you get kicks in the teeth along the way from time to time but we need to start believing in ourselves more because we have good players and the atmosphere is changing around the place.”
