Dave Jones has added to his backroom team with the arrival of Adriano Basso as the Club’s new Goalkeeper Coach.
The former Bristol City, Wolves and Hull City keeper has left FC United of Manchester to take up the role with Pools and was on duty for the first time during Saturday’s game against Wycombe Wanderers.
The vastly-experienced 41-year-old began his playing career in his native Brazil but first moved to England in 2004 with Woking before earning a move to Ashton Gate a year later.
Pools boss Jones has been on the lookout for a Goalkeeper Coach since being appointed in January and he’s thrilled that someone of Basso’s calibre has been found.
“In terms of goalkeeping experience he’s right up there and he will bring something we need,” Jones explained.
“As a player he was very committed and when you see where he’s been and what he’s done in the game we’re very lucky to have him at the Club.
“We’ll have a look until the end of the season to see if he likes us and we like him but we certainly needed that expertise because it’s a specialist area.
“I’m not a goalkeeper coach and neither are Kevin or Alex so in order to give our young goalkeepers the best opportunity we need to bring people in who know what they’re talking about.”
