Craig Harrison has today pulled off another exciting transfer deal with the news that Ryan Donaldson has agreed terms on a move to Victoria Park.
Pools have moved quickly to acquire the services of the 26-year-old attacking star, who made 33 appearances for Plymouth Argyle as they were promoted from League Two last season.
Donaldson, comfortable on the wing or up front, has previously played 12 times for Pools back in 2011/12 when he spent two months on loan at Victoria Park from boyhood club Newcastle United.
After enjoying a handful of First Team outings for The Magpies, Donaldson moved on to neighbours Gateshead in 2012 and he scored eight times in the National League in 2012/13.
That form prompted Cambridge United to swoop for his signature and the Tynesider went on to score the goal which took The U’s back in to the Football League – a winner in the Play-Off Final at Wembley against his former club Gateshead.
Donaldson continued to impress at a higher level and was a near ever-present for Cambridge during their first season in League Two, scoring seven goals – one of them against Pools.
However, now he will be wearing the blue and white stripes again in 2017/18 after Pools boss Harrison fought off competition from a number of other clubs to land his signature.
