Hartlepool United can confirm that Trevor Carson has today left the Club to join SPL side Motherwell for an undisclosed fee.
The goalkeeper joined Pools in June 2015 and has played 63 times for the Club in his two seasons, winning both Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year in 2015/16.
The Northern Ireland international underwent shoulder surgery in January and missed almost four months of action, returning for the final two games of the 2016/17 season.
Craig Harrison and the Club were keen to retain the services of Carson for the upcoming season and had offered him a new contract on improved terms in a bid to keep him in the North East.
The Club reluctantly agreed to release Trevor in order to support his international career.
Pools would like to thank Carson for his efforts during his time with the Club and wish him the very best for his future career and look forward to seeing him achieve his full potential in his international call-ups.
