Craig Harrison is set to give the majority of his squad more minutes on the pitch when they play their second pre-season friendly at Dunston UTS on Wednesday evening (7.30pm kick-off).
The Pools boss was satisfied with the way things went during the opening run-out at Billingham Town last week and now wants to move up to the next gear at the UTS Stadium.
“It’s another step for us and another game when everyone will be involved.” Harrison told us.
“Some lads will play more minutes in the game tonight and then we’ll reverse it at Harrogate Town on Saturday so that the players all get the time on the pitch they need at this stage.
“Step by step we’re looking to get them all fitter so some of them will get an hour under their belts tonight and then we’ll be looking to move towards ninety minutes in the coming games.
“The game at Billingham was a good game for us and I expect similar at Dunston so it’s all about just increasing things gradually and making sure we get to where we need to be.”
Nicky Featherstone remains sidelined as he continues his rehabilitation from a double hernia operation, while Devante Rodney will miss out with a slight hip problem. Trialists Junior Mondal and Martin Smith are expected to feature.
Admission prices at the UTS Stadium are £4 for adults and £2 for concessions.
