Craig Hignett has told his side they must add a clinical edge when they return to action against Crawley Town at The Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday.
Pools were beaten 1-0 by Grimsby Town last time out despite dominating against The Mariners and the boss wants to make sure that doesn’t happen again this weekend.
The sides played out a 1-1 draw when Crawley visited the North-East earlier in the campaign and Hignett is expecting another keenly-fought encounter when they meet again on Saturday.
“It should be a good game because I thought Crawley were impressive when they played up here earlier in the season,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.
“I think they are quite similar to us in that on our day we can beat anyone but we’ve not been consistent enough; there are lots of teams in this division in the same boat.
“There were loads of positives to take from our last game with the way we controlled things and passed the ball but we have to be more creative and clinical.
“We have to put our chances away when they come because if we don’t there’s the chance we’ll get punished for it, especially the way our season has gone where sometimes performances haven’t got the results they’ve deserved.
“I think it will be a good atmosphere down there with the great offer they have put on for everyone and I am sure if both teams play the way they can then it will be a really good game of football.”
