Everyone at Hartlepool United is extremely saddened by the passing away of Club stalwart Kath French at the age of 76.
Kath and her husband Dave were both loyal Pools fans and were proud founder members of the Club’s Supporters’ Association, following the team both home and away for many years.
She was also the driving force behind the Club’s successful lottery scheme, helping to set up the first ‘Pools On The Move’ enterprise in the mid-1980s.
Kath’s happy presence will be especially missed on matchdays when she would sell lottery tickets around the ground and in our corporate hospitality areas – more often than not demanding everyone bought at least one ticket each!
If she wasn’t in Portugal - where she loved to holiday - Kath would be at The Vic, discussing the latest results on the pitch and comings and goings in the transfer market.
Even during her illness at the end of last year, her determination to support the team and the Club remained as strong as ever and she attended her final game against Blackpool on Boxing Day.
Her passion for Pools is something she passed on to her son, David, and our thoughts are with him, the rest of the family and all of Kath’s friends at this sad time.
