Club Captain Billy Paynter has travelled to Liverpool for an injection in a bid to resolve a troublesome Achilles injury.
The front man has been working with the Club’s medical staff to manage the problem throughout the season but aggravated it in training the day before our game with Stevenage last month.
Now Paynter is set to receive an injection which will hopefully see him avoid surgery and allow him to play some part in Pools’ League Two run-in.
“Billy has shown a great attitude and desire to get back and help the lads,” explained Head Physio Ian Gallagher.
“However, we will only put him back out there when it’s right for him so we’ll see how effective this injection is and how he develops in the next week or so.”
Meanwhile, Carl Magnay has further stepped up his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury by joining in some parts of training with the First Team on Thursday morning.
