Craig Harrison admitted that Pools simply weren’t good enough during Saturday’s disappointing defeat to AFC Fylde at Victoria Park.
The Pools boss pulled no punches in his reaction after the game and insisted that he and the players will not shy away from criticism but must meet it head on and improve.
“It just wasn’t good enough – full stop,” Harrison told Pools PlayerHD.
“Nobody involved was good enough today and it needs to be better because that is not the standard we need to be at and what is demanded from everyone.
“We have got to get our heads down, watch the footage back tonight and then with the lads tomorrow – we don’t want any excuses from anyone, including myself.
“We started the game reasonably well but once we conceded another sloppy goal we just seemed to wilt and the belief looked like it got sucked out of us.
“The fans have got every right not to be happy and we can’t hide behind anything – everyone is lucky to be involved in professional football and we need to realise it.”
Defender Scott Harrison is racing to be fit in time to make the squad for Monday’s game at Guiseley after being forced off in the first half against Fylde with a foot injury.
“Scott took a sore one on the top of his foot,” Harrison explained.
“It’s one of those that is difficult to assess this evening so we’ll look again on Sunday and hopefully it will settle down and he’ll be okay for Monday.”
