Craig Harrison is backing his players to kick-start their season this weekend as they prepare to host AFC Fylde on Saturday in the first of a Bank Holiday double-header.
Pools are still searching for the first win of the new campaign but will welcome a Coasters outfit who are also without a victory in the opening month of National League action.
Harrison has been frustrated by individual errors and missed opportunities during their first five outings of the term and the Pools boss is now determined to see the squad put all of that firmly behind them this weekend.
“We want to get out there, get that first win and kick start this season,” Harrison told Pools PlayerHD.
“We have been close in a few games and we’ve been poor in a few games but I think we know that – we’re not in denial, we’ve not been good enough and need to get better.
“The players understand that so we’re looking forward to getting a home game this weekend and having the same sort of atmosphere and performance as we did against Chester.
“If we can create the same amount of chances, play as well as did that night and keep a clean sheet then I would like to think we’ll win the game.
“We need to have a solid base to work on whether we’re at home or away because if we do that then we have enough quality to get us goals.
“We need to move on, get that first win and once we do that I am confident we’ll go on a good run.”
