Pools became the talk of social media on Tuesday evening when the Club unveiled some retro Championship Manager 2 97/98 edition match graphics!
We revealed the team news ahead of the game against Chester with a graphic plucked straight from the hit management simulation game which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Things then got ramped up further when Jake Cassidy nodded Pools’ second half equaliser when we unleashed a brand new animated goal graphic, imitating exactly what happened when your team scored in the game!
And then to round things off we showed a full time screen outlining the score, scorers and attendance just as it would have been in the cult game.
Social media reacted with glee to our artwork with fans from all over the country expressing their pleasure at our vintage offerings as they were retweeted and liked hundreds of times.
“I feel like crying it’s so beautiful,” admitted @philwanley, while @micknick1908 said “Absolutely brilliant, champ manager style. Whoever came up with that take a bow.”
@tomhardy92 mused “best Twitter goal alert ever?” while @PeteDobosz added “Memories. What a way to announce a goal” and @NickChallis insisted “Outstanding. Get Hartlepool back in the league immediately.”
As a result, Pools boss Craig Harrison was today unable to comment on rumours linking the Club with moves for Ibrahima Bakayoko, Tommy Svindal Larsen and Bjorn Heidenstrom.
