Dave Jones was satisfied with what he described as a hard-earned point as Pools came from behind to draw 1-1 with Carlisle United at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium.
Pools had actually made the brighter start to the game but were knocked out of their stride when Jabo Ibehre poked the visitor in front in the seventh minute.
However, Jones’ men rallied after the break and got their reward when Rhys Oates charged down a Danny Grainger clearance and ran through to level things up and ensure a share of the spoils.
“It was a hard-earned point and in the end it could have gone either way because both teams were having a go,” Jones told Pools PlayerHD.
“At half time we tried to settle them down and re-iterate what we’re trying to do but you can see they’re a bit nervous but they worked hard and stuck at it.
“The Club has been here before many times over the last few years so they know what’s at stake, there are people in the dressing room who know what it’s about.
“It’s new to me, Alex and Kevin so we’re learning too but we’re drawing on all the experience we have and we’ll also draw on the experience the players have and we’ll get it right.
“We got the point, it’s still in our hands so now we go to Orient and we know what we’ve got to do.”
