Pools Youth Team are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Burton Albion in the Youth Alliance League at Blackhall Colliery’s Welfare Park (1pm kick-off).
After an excellent win over Preston North End in the Youth Alliance Cup last weekend, John Hewitson’s men will be keen to build some consistency with another strong display.
Pools know that a win would see them leapfrog their visitors and move towards the top half of the table after a frustrating start to the campaign which has seen them wasteful in front of goal in some games.
“We need to start taking more of our chances on a more regular basis,” admitted Hewitson.
“The lads have started a lot of our games so far really well and created lots of opportunities but not been able to convert them – and we’ve been punished for that at the other end of the pitch.
“It was a great win in the cup last week so we need to transfer that kind of form back in to the league and try to put together a little run of form to help us climb the table.”
Niall Short is the only player unavailable for selection this weekend as the youngster looks to shake-off a hip injury.
Kick-off is at 1pm at Welfare Park and we’ll have a full report on the game here on the Official Website on Monday.
