Craig Hignett has called on his players to build on the good work they did on their travels last weekend when they return to home soil to host Mansfield Town on Saturday.
The Pools boss is still waiting for his first win of the campaign at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium but was boosted by the character shown in his side’s come-from-behind win over The Glovers.
Hignett is now targeting a turnaround in fortunes on their own turf to help them climb the League Two table after seeing two draws and a defeat in their three north-east outings so far.
“We need a win at home,” he admitted when speaking to Pools PlayerHD.
“We have played well in the games; I look back at them and we should have got something from every one at home but we haven’t and that’s our own fault.
“The lads bounced back brilliantly from the disappointment of two weeks ago and it’s important we back that up again with another good performance and a win.
“It will be difficult though; Mansfield have had a good start to the season, they play some good football and they’re a hard-working side so we have to make sure we match that.
“If we show the same level of commitment and work rate as we did in our last home game – and keep eleven men on the pitch – then we’ll win more games than we’ll lose this season.”
