Craig Hignett has demanded a reaction from his players at Yeovil Town this weekend as they return to action for the first time since their heavy defeat against Stevenage.
Pools were thumped 6-1 at The Lamex Stadium last weekend and Hignett admitted that it led to some home truths coming out in the dressing room afterwards.
However, the Pools boss has been encouraged by the attitude towards training since then and is confident that whatever team he selects for the trip to Huish Park will produce the performance required.
“We’ve had a full week of training, in every day working and bedding down some principles that I think we have gone away from,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.
“Last week set me back, I won’t lie – it was a real kick in the guts so we had some words afterwards but the lads have taken that on the chin and been very focused this week.
“It’s one thing showing that good attitude in training but the important time is match day so I want us to go out and show everyone on Saturday what they show me during the week.
“We can’t keep conceding goals like we are and expect to win games. We do play a bit open so we’ve worked on that and addressed it this week.
“I am looking for a reaction and I would be fuming with my players if we don’t get some passion on Saturday. The least we expect is hard work, organisation, passion and desire.”
