Carson And Donnelly Receive Call-Ups

29 September 2016

Trevor Carson has been called-up to the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, while Liam Donnelly is in the Under-21 squad.

Michael O’Neill has named a 24-man squad for the home game against San Marino on Saturday 8th October and the trip to Germany on Tuesday 11th October.

Pools keeper Carson will battle for the Number One spot with St Johnstone’s Alan Mannus and Norwich City’s Michael McGovern during the qualification campaign.

The call-up means that Carson will miss Pools’ Checkatrade Trophy game against Sunderland next week and the League Two home fixture with Crawley Town.

Meanwhile, defender Liam Donnelly will also miss the games against Sunderland and Crawley Town after being included in Northern Ireland’s Under-21 squad for their European Championship qualifiers.

The youngster will travel with the squad to face Ukraine on Thursday 6th October before returning home to host France on Tuesday 11th October.
