Pools Youth Team will look to get back on track on Saturday when they host York City in the Youth Alliance Cup at Welfare Park in Blackhall (11am kick-off).
After suffering a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Bradford City last time out, John Hewitson’s youngsters will be after a reaction this weekend against The Minstermen.
Pools are boosted by the return of influential duo Josh Hawkes and Kenton Richardson who missed last week’s game after spending time on loan at Guisborough Town.
However, Liam Travers is missing through illness and Niall Short is still recovering a thigh problem so both will miss out. Ryan Robinson is out long-term with a cruciate ligament injury.
“Individual errors cost us dear last week so we need to start in a positive way on Saturday,” Hewitson explained.
“This is the group stage of the competition so, having won one and lost one, we know that if we win then we will progress to the next phase so that has to be the incentive.”
Meanwhile, Pools have been drawn to play away at Bradford City in the First Round of the FA Youth Cup.
“We’d have preferred a home tie but we will go there fancying our chances,” insisted Hewitson.
