Michael Woods will return from injury when the Reserves make the trip to face Mansfield Town in the Central League on Wednesday afternoon (2pm kick-off).
The midfielder has not played for a month after being sidelined with an Achilles injury but he returning to training last week and is now ready to build his match fitness with a run-out for the Reserves.
Rhys Oates will also be in the starting line-up after returning from a loan spell at Gateshead, while tralist Harly Wise will get another chance to impress Pools’ staff.
The Reserve side has been in excellent form so far this season and sit top of the league after claiming maximum points from the first two league games and tasting victory in the Central League Cup.
It’s been a bit more of a struggle for hosts Mansfield who only rejoined the Reserve League this season and they’ve lost their last two outings, conceding ten goals in the process.
However, Pools coach Sam Collins insists that it’s not results that concern him most, it’s the performance of the players and their development throughout the campaign.
“It’s just about carrying things on now,” Collins explained.
“With my group it’s not necessarily about winning – as much you want to do that obviously – it’s about the development of the lads as players and individuals.
“The way they have come on this season is great and there are two or three of them who have played for the First Team or at least been on the bench.
“There are more coming through behind those lads too who are doing really well so at the moment it all feels really positive.
“What pleases me most is their attitude to everything I have asked them to do – they’re playing well as well as winning games and they’re getting their rewards.”
The game will be played at Rainworth Miners Welfare on Kirklington Road in Mansfield where entry will be free for supporters.
