Stamford Through To Face Pools In FA Cup

18 October 2016

Pools will host Stamford in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup after the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South outfit overcame Wrexham in a replay on Tuesday.

Stamford, managed by Graham Drury, looked set for progress when they led 2-0 with just four minutes remaining only for the hosts to hit back with two late goals to force extra-time.

However, Wrexham were left stunned as Jake Duffy's twenty-yard free-kick found the net in the 103rd minute to send the visiting fans in to raptures and confirm Stamford's trip to Pools in Round One.

Known as The Daniels, they are currently 19th in the league table but have several games in hand on the sides around them due to their extended run in the FA Cup.

The tie will be the first time that Pools have ever played against the Lincolnshire side who operate four tiers below Craig Hignett’s men in the football pyramid.

The First Round clash is set take place on Saturday 5th November (3pm kick-off) at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium with full ticket details to follow shortly.
