Pools Ring The Changes For Trophy Test

Craig Hignett has made eight changes to his starting eleven for this evening’s Checkatrade Trophy game against Sunderland at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium (7.30pm kick-off).

The Pools boss has handed a senior debut to Ben Pollock, while there are first starts for youngsters James Martin, Brad Fewster and Tom Heardman.

Adam Bartlett starts in goal due to Trevor Carson’s international call-up, with Nicky Featherstone able to return in midfield due to his suspension not counting in this competition.

Scott Harrison is recalled to the centre of defence, Billy Paynter will skipper the side in attack and Youth Team full-back Kenton Richardson is included among the substitutes.
