Home Draw For Pools In FA Cup

17 October 2016

Pools have been drawn to play Wrexham or Stamford at home in the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The draw for the first stage was made on Monday evening and Craig Hignett’s men were handed a home tie with their opponents to be confirmed by a replay to be played on Tuesday night.

Stamford, who play in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South, hosted National League outfit Wrexham at their Zeeco Stadium on Saturday and came from a goal down to draw 1-1.

Pools have never before played against Stamford, while it’s almost ten years since they crossed paths with Wrexham and on that occasion in January 2007 it finished 1-1

Last season Pools made it through to the Third Round of the FA Cup, defeating Cheltenham Town and Salford City en route before being knocked out by Championship outfit Derby County.

First Round ties are due to be played on Saturday 5th November.
