Hignett Annoyed With Goals Conceded

15 October 2016

Craig Hignett was disappointed after seeing his side lose 3-2 to Carlisle United at Brunton Park this afternoon.

The Pools Manager was left frustrated with his side’s defending after seeing them concede two goals from set pieces,

“I can’t fault the performance and I can’t fault the effort. I thought we controlled the game and were the better side,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD after the game.

“But what I am annoyed with is the manner of the goals.

“We’ve talked about set pieces all week, we even walked through them yesterday and they’ve scored two when we should have gone on to win the game.

“To let in set pieces like we have when we know that’s what they’re going to do is unacceptable – everybody knew their jobs but for whatever reason, they didn’t end up doing them.

“We can’t come away and play like we have done and come away with nothing, it’s criminal. They’ve got to get themselves sorted.”
