We Go There With Confidence - Hignett

18 November 2016

Craig Hignett has challenged his players to build on two good results on home turf when they make the trip to face third-placed Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Pools ensured progress in the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Stamford before earning their first victory of the season on their own patch with a 2-0 triumph against Cheltenham Town last weekend.

Hignett has admitted that those displays have helped boost confidence levels in the camp and he says that a trip to high-flying Rovers will hold no fear for his players.

“We’ve had a couple of good performances, clean sheets and goals scored so the lads have been sharp in training and are ready for Saturday’s game,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“Doncaster are a good side; we’ve had them watched and they play the right way so I am looking forward to it because I think you’ll have two teams who want to keep the ball on the floor.

“Both teams score goals so I think it will be a nice, open and entertaining game – but hopefully not too open!

“We’ve got a plan so we will go there and stick to that because I know we’ve got the players who can hurt them.

“We’ve proved already we can compete against the top sides; we’ll have to be on our mettle because it’s a tough place to go and they’re unbeaten at home but we go there with confidence.”
