We take a look at the latest info from both camps ahead of Wednesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy game against Rochdale at The Northern Gas and Power Stadium (7.30pm kick-off).
Craig Hignett will be without Toto Nsiala for Wednesday evening’s group game as he continues a suspension incurred after being sent-off in our first Checkatrade Trophy fixture at Notts County.
Trevor Carson will also be missing after linking-up with the Northern Ireland squad for international duty so Adam Bartlett will be given the nod to start in goal against Dale.
Liam Donnelly is free to return after sitting out Sunday’s FA Cup win through suspension following his red card at Barnet, while Hignett will also run the rule over the fitness of Rob Jones.
Matthew Bates could get more minutes under his belt after his successful return from bone-bruising at the weekend but Brad Fewster (hamstring), Carl Magnay (knee) and Nathan Thomas (groin) are all definitely sidelined.
The Pools boss must work within the selection guidelines set for the Checkatrade Trophy which mean he must pick at least five of the players who started on Sunday or five of the top eleven players in terms of starts in all competitions so far this season.
Rochdale boss Keith Hill made the maximum of six changes for their last outing in the Checkatrade Trophy and could opt to rotate again, as the Lancashire outfit are already assured of their place in the next stage of the competition.
Ian Henderson won’t be involved after picking up an injury in training which is likely to keep him on the sidelines for at least the next four weeks.
