Pools Reserves will aim to bounce back to winning ways when they make the trip to Sheffield United in the Central League Cup on Thursday afternoon (1.30pm kick-off).
A young Pools line-up will make the journey to The Blades’ Academy for their third group game in the competition having previously beaten Bradford City and lost to Newcastle United.
Sam Collins will lead the side as they look to respond after falling to a 5-0 defeat at Grimsby Town last Tuesday – their first league reverse of the campaign.
“We’ve spoken to the players about last week and the response since that game has been good,” Collins explained.
“The challenge on Thursday is to go and put things right and make sure that the things we did poorly against Grimsby we do much better.
“In possession we were pretty good at times but when we don’t have the ball we need to be more aggressive so hopefully we see that on Thursday.”
Pools will include Curzon Ashton defender James Baillie in the eleven for the game this afternoon.
The game takes place at Sheffield United’s Academy on Firshill Crescent and we’ll have a full report here on the Official Website after the final whistle.
