Trevor Carson has been sent to hospital for an x-ray after being forced to come off during Saturday’s win over Cheltenham Town with a finger injury.
The Pools keeper – who had flown back from international duty with Northern Ireland to play in the game was replaced by Adam Bartlett eight minutes before half time.
Boss Craig Hignett revealed afterwards that Carson had wanted to play on but was substituted following medical advice though it is hoped that he won’t miss too much action.
“We think he’s dislocated it,” Hignett explained.
“Certainly his finger was in a bit of a mess when he took his glove off so he’s gone to hospital for an x-ray just to make sure it’s nothing more serious.
“Trevor is optimistic though – he didn’t want to come off today and he sure he’s going to be okay to play for Northern Ireland on Tuesday so we’re hoping it’s nothing long-term.”
