It's A Date: Trevor Carson

30 May 2016

We look back at the main events that happened on the same date that Pools star Trevor Carson was born.

The double Player of the Year was born on Saturday 5th March 1988 and here is what links there are on that date...

Birthday Buddies
The Proclaimers – Brothers Charlie and Craig Reid were both born on 5th March 1962. Perhaps it’s ironic because Trevor walked 5,000 miles* from Cheltenham to sign for Pools in the summer. (*It may not be 5,000 miles and we’re not absolutely certain he walked)

Kevin Connolly – One of the stars of hit American series, Entourage, Connolly is a famous actor and director born on 5th March 1974.

Eva Mendes – The American actress and model was born in Miami on the same day as Trevor but in 1974. It’s unclear whether she and Trevor enjoy a joint celebration.

In The Headlines
Paddy Ashdown was still settling in to his new role, having been voted in as the Leader of the Liberal Democrats Party.

The Iran-Iraq War was still rumbling on but a truce was being agreed and later in the month the battle was over – but not before an estimated 1,000,000 people had lost their lives.

A massive anti-government protest in Burma (now Myanmar) ended in tragedy as thousands of people were killed.

My Birthdays

Best Birthday?
“I would say my 18th. I was at Sunderland at the time but 18 of my family came over from Ireland and surprised me – we had a brilliant weekend.”

Worst Birthday?
“I think the older you get the worse they get don’t they?? I don’t think I’m looking forward to my 30th very much – that’s going to be the worst!”

21st Birthday?
“Well, my girlfriend at the time was 18 the day before I was 21 so she stole quite a lot of my thunder on that front! Haha!”

Best Birthday Present?
“I remember playing at Lincoln City on my birthday and the fans were all singing Happy Birthday from the stands – and we kept a clean sheet. That was a pretty good present.”

Worst Birthday Present?
“I once gave a bad present – I bought a girlfriend tea-bags! She’d set me a budget of £10 and she was really in to tea so I bought her all different flavoured ones. I just remember them laying there unopened!”
