Carson Scoops Double Pools Award

4 May 2016

Goalkeeper Trevor Carson is celebrating being crowned both Fans and Players’ Player of the Year for the 2015/16 at the Club’s End of Season Awards Night.

Carson has been in exceptional form since recovering from an early-season injury and has made a catalogue of incredible saves during some truly astonishing displays.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Club from Cheltenham Town in the summer, was an overwhelming choice with supporters and his team-mates, beating-off competition from Matthew Bates and Billy Paynter.

Top scorer Paynter was crowned Away Player of the Year by the Supporters’ Association, while Adam Jackson was nominated as the Club’s Young Player of the Year.

The other big winner was Sam Collins, who won the inaugural Ken Johnson Award which has been introduced for the first time this year to recognise services to the Football Club.

Guests at the Club’s Awards Night, which was held at The Grand Hotel, voted for the Goal of the Season prize – and Lewis Hawkins stunner at Barnet was crowned the winner.
