Pools have completed the signing of another up and coming youngster after Ben Pollock agreed a professional contract at Victoria Park.
The 18-year-old centre-back spent time on trial with Pools during the latter part of the 2015/16 campaign and impressed in games for the Club’s Reserves and Youth Team.
Pollock spent time on the books of both Middlesbrough and Leeds United as a youngster before joining Newcastle United as a scholar two years ago.
After hearing news that he was to be released by The Magpies, Pools moved quickly to bring the talented defender to the Club and he’s since done enough to win his first professional deal.
“We spotted potential in Ben and he did very well during his trial period,” explained boss Craig Hignett.
“The thing with Ben is that his attitude is unbelievable; he’s a good kid who is ambitious, hungry and ambitious to do well in the game.
“He’s eager to learn all the time and that’s something I want from everyone in the squad so those are the types of characters we will be trying to bring in to the Club.”
Pollock – the son of former Middlesbrough and Manchester City midfielder Jamie – will now link-up with his new team-mates when they return for pre-season training at the end of June.
