Youth Team Draw At Burton Albion

15 March 2016

Pools Youth Team drew 3-3 in an entertaining fixture at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts took the lead in the first minute after they intercepted a header back to the goalkeeper to steal in and open the scoring.

John Hewitson’s side reacted well to going a goal behind so early in the game and, after a few chances on goal, Jordan Jewson grabbed a deserved equaliser, finishing off a great team move to smash home into the top corner.

Pools started the second half brightly and were using possession well but it was Burton who were next to score to make it 2-1.

A well-worked Nat Skidmore freekick played in Jack Blackford and he pulled it back for Jack Turnbull who drove home the equaliser for 2-2.

Pools continued to create openings and took the lead for the first time in the game through Jordan Jewson who fired in a great freekick from 25 yards.

Just as it looked like the win was secure though, Burton grabbed a late leveler to finish things off at 3-3.

“We were pleased with the performance from the lads.” John Hewitson told

“We showed great character to fight back twice and then take the lead. Our play when in possession was really good and we should really have seen the game out.”
