We Must Keep Looking Up - Hignett

18 March 2016

Craig Hignett has told his players they must once again take the positive atmosphere they enjoy on the training ground in to Saturday’s League Two visit to Crawley Town.

The Pools boss has overseen a confidence-boosting three-game unbeaten run which has put daylight between themselves and the bottom two in the division.

Now Hignett has insisted that his eyes are only on the teams above them in the table and has challenged his side to continue their improvement when they make the trip to Sussex on Saturday.

“We want to create a good atmosphere around the Club and make it enjoyable to come in and train,” he told Pools PlayerHD.

“It’s a serious business and we will work hard when we’re here, but you have got to enjoy what you’re doing and I think the players have taken to that and you can see in their performances they’re enjoying the way we’re trying to play.

“I’m not looking towards the bottom two, I’m looking up - so the focus for us is to concentrate on what we do, not worry about anyone else, and hopefully we’ll pick up enough points to catch some of the teams above us.

“We’re scoring goals and we’re not letting many in at the moment so the challenge for the players now is to keep that going.

“The lads who are playing have got the shirts and it’s up to them to keep them because I have people knocking on the door – and that’s not just the subs but all the lads in the squad because they’ve all shown good stuff in training.”
