Orient Win Leaves Hignett Delighted

28 March 2016

Craig Hignett insisted that the belief in his squad is continuing to grow as they took all three points following a dominant performance against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.

Second half goals from Billy Paynter and Nathan Thomas did the damage for Pools as they extended their unbeaten run to six games and climb to 17th in the League Two table.

“I was delighted with the lads,” Hignett told Pools PlayerHD.

“We kept a really good shape, the discipline of the team was superb and then when we went forward we scored two really good goals.

“The belief is growing and that comes from good performances; that’s the fourth clean sheet in a row and we have a really settled side now.

“I did toy with the idea of changing it because I thought we looked a little tired on Friday but the lads have earned their shirts and the energy levels today were fantastic.

“We had to dig in because they put us under pressure and, when we needed him, Trevor Carson was absolutely outstanding but I can’t fault any of the players.

“It’s been an unbelievable Easter weekend to get the six points and it’s fantastic for us, for the lads and for the whole Club really – it gives us a real lift.”
